One of the latest ranges to hit our shelves is Heather Givens’ debut collection for Windham, called Succulents.
The fabrics feature pretty hand drawn illustrations of succulents, along with text about how to care for them. We love the colour pallette – perfect for modern quilters.
Heather Givans, opened her shop Crimson Tate:: Modern Quilter in 2011, in Indianapolis, USA. She studied Art History, Art Education and Fine Arts (Printmaking) at university, and started quilting when she accompanied her mother to a quilt camp in the heart of the Midwest. There Heather fell in love with fabric, texture, patterns, and got hooked on making quilts.
The Crimson Tate website describes Heather as:
“Chief quilter, modern fabric enthusiast, and teacher extraordinaire. Possesses a fondness for things time worn and well loved, and Kentucky bourbon. She’s the definition of friendly and fun.”
The Succulents range of fabrics have been on a blog tour, where the fabric was used to make quilts, clothing and this amazing foundation pieced wallhanging. The links to the all posts from the blog tour can be found here, as well as more information on how Heather designed the range.
Succulents is instore now, and available to buy online.
Today, Heather works on new designs, giggles contagiously, and teaches sewing with her energetic friends and staff among the hustle and bustle of Downtown Indianapolis. Crimson Tate offers quality fabrics, patterns, notions, and sewing classes at 845 Massachusetts Avenue.
